Purnell Colour Classics

To borrow the description from Wikipedia: 

Purnell and Sons started out as a small family printers based in Somerset, which merged with other printers over the next 100 years to become one of the largest print groups in the UK and at one time a major publisher.

Below is a list of the full set of Purnell Colour Classics (12 books), all published in the mid to late 1970s. The stories were all retold by Jane Carruth and illustrated by either John Worsley (7 books), Gordon King (4 books), or Chris Higham (1 book). Where there are no photo credits, the photo is from my own collection.

Some (maybe all?) of the books in this series were also published by Golden Press, New York, Western Publishing Company, Racine, Wisconsin, in U.S. editions in the same years (e.g. Treasure Island, US edition published 1975, ISBN 0 307 14750 9).

Some (maybe all?) were republished later by Award Publications Limited (e.g. Little Women, © 1982 Victoria House Publishing, Award Publications 1984, Award Adventure Classics, ISBN 0 86163 133 1).
