World Distributors (Manchester) Ltd was a British publishing company, established around 1940. It was best known for reprinting American comics and for publishing hardback annuals relating to popular film, television, animation, and comics. In 1980, the company became known as World International Publishing, Ltd., changing briefly to World International Limited in the mid 1990s, before being bought by Egmont and absorbed into their company from 1999.
The company is sometimes referred to as "Pembertons", as it was founded by three Pemberton brothers.
World had a relationship with American publishers, and distributed a number of books under the logo "World & Whitman" (presumably a joint publication with the American Whitman Publishing).

My focus here is on nursery rhyme collections published by World and World & Whitman. There do not seem to be many of these, but if you are a collector of vintage children's nursery rhyme collections (or would like to be), it's helpful to know that the typographical arrangements (presentation/layout of text and illustrations) and/or illustrations were recycled multiple times in multiple different collections, as you may not want to collect multiple books with different titles but ultimately the same content.
I started putting this list together for myself, and I hope others will find it helpful, too. It's a work in progress, and I will update it as I review more books and/or find more information.
I've grouped the nursery rhyme books alphabetically, by title, and added publication details where known. If a book is the same but for the cover, I've tried to include the multiple covers below. I've also added notes about where particular books include typographical arrangements and/or illustrations from previously published works.
